Jupiter is a town located in Palm Beach County and is a well known for its beauty and picturesque beaches Having become a popular vacation spot, Jupiter is often referred to as a "beach town". Many celebrities also own homes in Jupiter, Florida and many transplanted Northerners who can afford expensive, luxurious vacation homes make Jupiter their home and most of these "snowbirds" eventually become year-round residents of this beautiful town.
The most notable landmark is the Jupiter Lighthouse which was completed in 1860. Made of brick and painted red it has become the symbol for the town of Jupiter and is a popular attraction to its residents and to visiting tourists.
Jupiter is home to the Florida Marlins and for the St. Louis Cardinals spring training facility, as well as home to Florida Atlantic University's MacArthur Campus and where The Scripps Research Institute is in the process of developing a state-of-the-art biomedical research sister facility.
Jupiter has many amenities in the form of shopping areas and many fine restaurants and is also in close proximity to the Palm Beach International Airport and the famous shops and dining pleasures of CityPlace, Worth Avenue and Clematis Street and to the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Jupiter also is home to the Maltz Theatre, formerly called the Burt Reynolds Theater, where many concerts and theatrical productions are held.
